Seal Beach deck waterproofing

Horizontal surfaces that are exposed to the weather can be hard to waterproof, because the low slope can create areas of standing water. Freeze and thaw cycles in colder climates can create additional problems. Not to mention, the continuous amount of foot traffic that it must endure. Fortunately, there are products that can seal everything from pool decks to high-rise balconies. Whether it’s a small patio or a large rooftop deck, the goal is the same. You want to direct the water flow away from the deck while keeping the surface dry.

Seal Beach, CA

Seal Beach is a coastal city on the western corner of Orange County. To the northwest is the city of Long Beach and the San Pedro Bay (which are in Los Angeles County). Huntington Harbor and Sunset Beach are to the southeast, while Westminster and Garden Grove are to the east. Most of Seal Beach’s land is part of the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach Military Base.

Surfing has always been a part of Seal Beach. In fact, the town hosted the mainland’s first surfing competition, which was at a private gathering of the annual Minnesota Picnic. Its popularity started to take off after World War II after legendary surfer Blackie August taught many of the local children how to surf. August’s son, Robert, was one of the two surfers who were featured in the classic surfing film, Endless Summer.

Two of the biggest events in Seal Beach are the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast in April and its Fish Fry in July. There is also a Rough Water Swim Event, which has been held on the same weekend as the Fish Fry since the 1960’s. The Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce sponsors a number of events, including the following:

  • A Classic Car Show in April.
  • A Summer Concert Series (which is held once a week in July and August).
  • The Christmas Parade in December.
  • The Kite Festival in September.

The Bay Theater (which was a popular venue for a number of independent film and revival screenings) is located in Seal Beach. It closed in 2012, but it’s now being restored since it was bought in 2017.

Because of its warmer climate with characteristics similar to the Mediterranean, Seal Beach is a great place for outdoor entertaining. If you have a balcony or deck, you want to make sure it will last for many years.

Our three-step deck coating system is designed to be used over virtually any walking surface. It can be installed over new areas such as concrete as well as previously coated plywood. We can also apply a coating over other deck coatings such as Magnesite, Diato, Elastomeric, Epoxy Stone, tiled decks, etc. The composition is a high quality water-based acrylic which allows it to dry fast and be walked on in between coats. This coating system has been applied to deck and stair surfaces since the early 1980’s. Our process is built using Fiberglass and High quality Acrylic Resins to provide a waterproof walking deck surface that will withstand the tests of time.
